Outcomes

Innovating Inclusion culminates in a national contest with potential prizes of internships, apprenticeships, and scholarships for winning entries.  Participants should submit:

  • solution story

  • 10 page slide deck

  • prototype (low or high fidelity)

  • video pitch

  • reflections on the importance of inclusion

Participants

The competition recognizes achievements at two educational stages: secondary education (for participants ages 14-17) and college education (for participants ages 18-24). Each stage will be judged and awarded separately.

Participants understand fundamentals of entrepreneurship and how to:

  • address implicit & unconscious bias

  • actively listen with empathy

  • develop a mindset that embraces and promotes diversity

  • apply the principles of Universal Design in problem solving

  • create inclusive environments

  • communicate effectively with diverse audiences

  • fail forward

  • collaborate with diverse teams

  • apply a multifaceted perspective to innovation

  • comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)

  • develop strategic plans that prioritize inclusion

  • communicate the value of accessible solutions
